The Yale Travel Registry & Veoci – Watching Over the University Community

Upwards of 105 million people are expected to travel over the end of year holidays this year.  Among them will be a majority of the 12,000 students and 4,500 faculty and staff of Yale University.

During this high traffic holiday season, The Yale Travel Registry enables the university to know where the members of its community are in the world, and to communicate and enact response plans in situations where their safety might be at risk.

Keeping track of the movements and whereabouts of up to 16,000 people is no easy matter.  This involves:

  • a simple way for people to report their travel plans
  • the ability to send out warnings and notifications about trouble spots around the world
  • interactive maps showing individuals’ whereabouts
  • automated plan execution to rapidly initiate responses and deploy resources

Enabling these capabilities and using them with minimal effort is undoubtedly a major challenge,

offering multiple capabilities and features in a single platform.  These include custom registration forms; public dashboards with personalized information about travel plans; mapping and geofencing capabilities for pinpointing affected travelers; warnings and notifications of potential and existing hotspots, via email, phone, SMS, and the Veoci mobile app; and single-click executable response/evacuation plans.

We are glad to be part of Yale’s integrated solution for keeping its community members safe wherever they are in the world.
